Surrounded by nature, away from the hustle of college life, student leaders from all the DCCCD colleges gathered at the Prothro Retreat by Lake Texoma to attend the four-day DCCCD Summer Leadership Retreat from May 16 to May 19. Club officers and members are selected for their active role as student leaders on their respective campuses.
In the midst of #bikinibod and #summerbod hashtags and all of the body positivity, there is always the half-conscious nuance in the back of our minds that calls us to recognize our flaws. And then boom, a self-love session can quickly turn into pity parties and insecurity sessions. While this all comes in lots of different forms, it’s not easy to just lecture yourself to stop thinking that way. It’s inevitable, it’s human nature. So how do we address that?
When it comes to business, money talks, and the language it speaks is Accounting. Additionally, it’s a stable, growing industry that pays well and comes with tons of career opportunities at various education levels. Sounds pretty good, right?
So I had to audition. Auditions were relatively short and intimidating. I mean, having one person auditioning with you was cool but having 15 people watching you and taping you was pretty scary…
Hey everyone! My name is Sadiya and I’m so excited to be able to share bits and pieces of my life with y’all! I’m a student at North Lake College, where I plan to get my AA and transfer to a four-year institution to major in Human Rights and nonprofit management. My goal is to go to law school to study International Law. After I studied Islamic Theology at a girls’ boarding school in England, North Lake College was my first choice once I got back. Originally from California, it was also my first school in Texas where I got to make friends.
Hiii everyone! I’m Ezra and I am an Accounting and Human Rights major at Richland College. I’m planning to transfer to SMU or UTD depending on financial aid packages and scholarships, so fingers crossed. Ideally, I would love to work in the United Nations and find my way in the legislative process as a congresswoman but those are just plans, I’m open to where life takes me.
