Dallas College honored its three fall sports national championship teams at the men’s basketball game between Richland and Eastfield on Saturday, Feb. 24.
The Richland men’s soccer team won its sixth consecutive and NJCAA Division III-record 12th national championship in November; the Brookhaven women’s soccer team won its third straight and fifth overall national title; and the Eastfield volleyball team won its second national championship.
It was a historic season on the athletics front. It marked the first time in college history that three different teams won NJCAA championships in the same academic year. The Eastfield volleyball team (pictured below) also became the first NJCAA Division III program to have a perfect season, going 35-0 in capturing the title.
Dallas College honored the three teams with championship T-shirts and other giveaways at the basketball team.
The Richland men’s soccer team (pictured below) clinched the championship by defeating Mohawk Valley Community College, 4-0. The Thunderducks went 12-3-1 on the season. The Brookhaven women’s soccer team defeated Delta College, 1-0, for the championship. The Bears finished 15-2-1. And Eastfield’s volleyball team swept Century College, 25-19, 25-11, 25-22, to polish off the perfect season.
