The decision to register for summer college classes is not an easy one. Students struggle with the choice between taking a relaxing hiatus from their studies or using the summer to get ahead (or catch up).
Here are a few advantages and disadvantages of signing up for Summer term. As you read through these, keep in mind there are may be other factors not listed here that could be important in your decision.
While some 21-year-old students are out hitting the town, Genesis Escamilla is home hitting the books. She is a full-time college student, a full-time employee and a full-time single mom.
“I am full-time everything,” says Genesis laughing. “I just take flex term classes so it isn’t an overload all at once.”

Continuing on our theme of discussing the U.S. News and World Report’s 100 Best Jobs of 2017 list and what that means to DCCCD, we’re talking this week about jobs with management roles. At first glance, you might not necessarily see how each of these jobs are connected. But the thing they have in common is that they will usually require some ability to see things from a “big picture” point of view and keep track of various moving parts. All of them will require some level of people skills, as often these positions will involve hiring and supervising others.
