Dallas College is proud to announce that nine students are among the semifinalists for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. The selection process weighed academic achievement and ability, financial need, perseverance and leadership.
Now in its 25th year, the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation provides community college students with a transfer scholarship of up to $55,000 per year for two to three years toward the completion of a bachelor’s degree.
Giuseppe “Seppy” Basili, Cooke Foundation executive director, describes the scholarship as a “lifeline for exceptional community college students to actualize their academic dreams.”
These nine Dallas College students are among 467 semifinalists, selected from a pool of 1,600 applicants from 212 community colleges in 43 states:

- Mang Cin – Richland Campus
- Alejandro Dominguez – Eastfield Campus
- Malak Elkady – Richland Campus
- Angela Garrity – North Lake Campus
- Khai Huynh – Richland Campus
- Martina Sarabia – Eastfield Campus
- Lan Vu – Richland Campus
- Ishaq Wadhvania – Mountain View Campus
In addition to scholarship funds, the finalists will receive personalized educational advising and access internships, study abroad experiences, graduate school funding and the support of a network of more than 3,400 fellow Cooke Scholars.
Scholarship recipients will be announced in May.
