Get Ready For Action: Fall Sports Enter Postseason Play

Dallas College is hosting tournaments in three sports in the coming weeks: women’s soccer, men’s soccer and women’s volleyball.

First up is women’s soccer as the Brookhaven team will host the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III South District Tournament starting next Tuesday, Oct. 22-26.

Brookhaven won the Dallas Athletic Conference title – its eighth consecutive league championship. The No. 2 nationally-ranked Bears and No. 7 Dallas College Richand, the DAC runner-up, will have quarterfinal byes on Tuesday.

Third-seeded Dallas College Cedar Valley plays six-seeded Dallas College Mountain View at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the quarterfinals. Fourth-seeded Dallas College North Lake meets fifth-seeded Dallas College Eastfield at 6:30 p.m.

Brookhaven will play the lowest remaining in the semifinals seed 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24. Richland meets the highest seed in the second semifinal at 6:30 p.m.  

The championship game is scheduled for noon Saturday, Oct. 26.

Tournament passes for admittance to all games will be sold for $15. Adults single-day passes are $8. Students and children under 18 single-day passes are $5. Children under 6 are free. Dallas College students and staff with current IDs are free. Tournament programs will be sold for $2.

Brookhaven beat Richland, 2-1, to win last year’s district championship before going on to claim its third straight NJCAA Division III National Championship. The Bears have won five straight district championships. Richland won the 2018 district title on its way to claiming the national championship.

4 p.m. — Dallas College Cedar Valley (7-3-3) vs. Dallas College Mountain View (0-11-0)

6:30 p.m. – Dallas College North Lake (5-5-5) vs. Dallas College Eastfield (4-10-2)

Semifinals

Thursday, Oct. 24

4 p.m. – Dallas College Brookhaven (9-2-3) vs. Lowest remaining seed

6:30 p.m. – Dallas College Richland (8-3-2) vs. Highest remaining seed

Championship

Saturday, Oct. 26

12 p.m. – Semifinal winners

* South District Tournament champion advances to NJCAA Division III National Championships Nov. 13-17 in Batavia, N.Y.
