Have you filed your 2023 tax return yet? The April 15 deadline is quickly approaching! Before you hire someone to help you, however, consider your options. You may qualify for free help filing your taxes.

In-Person Tax Help
In 2023, did you earn less than $64,000?
If so, you likely qualify for free tax prep services available through Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA). Open days, evening and weekends, VITA offers free in-person tax prep services.
This means more money in your pocket!
An IRS-certified volunteer will help you prepare your tax return for filing. Help is available in English and Spanish at more than 50 VITA locations in the DFW metroplex. Many locations are DART accessible.
VITA is available at some Dallas College locations too:

Training and Volunteer Opportunities
Want to help your community and increase your earning potential? Become an IRS-certified tax preparer or client liaison and volunteer at a VITA site.
Free training is available through Foundation Communities. No accounting experience is needed!

Are you a Dallas College student or employee interested in volunteering? Email Professor Pierre at CPierre@DallasCollege.edu by March 1 with the subject line “VITA Volunteer.” She will then send you information about a virtual training specifically for Dallas College volunteers on March 6 and 7.
Volunteers must commit to serving at least 25 hours.
