2020 is an election year. Are you ready? Early voting for the Texas primary runoff election has already started!
Voting is crucial to democracy, and it gives you the power to use your voice. It’s also our shared civic duty, but voting can seem daunting if you’ve never done it before.
So, we’ve compiled a handy list of resources for all the voters out there. Whether it is your first time at the polls or you’re just not sure how voting will work during a global pandemic, we’ve got you covered.
The tl;dr — There’s an election on July 14, but early voting started Monday, June 29.
Who?
All registered voters in Dallas County (or in the county in which you plan to vote). You can vote in one party’s primaries each election cycle. So, for Dallas County, you can vote now if you voted in May’s Democratic primary or did not vote at all in May.

The registration deadline for this election was June 15. Check to see if you are registered to vote. If you are not, register now for the November election!
What?
A primary runoff election in Texas.
This election will finalize the Democratic candidates who will be on the ballot for the general election in November. Some counties also have Republican runoffs. Learn more about the 2020 runoff ballot.
When?
Election day is Tuesday, July 14, but early voting started on Monday, June 29, and goes through Friday, July 10.
Note: All Dallas County polling locations will be closed July 3-4.
Where?
If you live in Dallas County, you can cast your vote in person at any of the seven campuses of Dallas College during early voting or on election day (the North Lake Campus will not be a voting center on election day, July 14). Or, look up your polling location online if you aren’t near a Dallas College location.
If you don’t live in Dallas County, visit the Texas Secretary of State website to find out where to go.
Note: All seven main Dallas College Campuses, as well as the West Dallas Center, Garland Center and Pleasant Grove Center, are early voting and election day voting locations (the North Lake Campus will not be a voting center on election day, July 14). Visit this map of all Dallas County early voting locations to find the best location for you.
How?
Just show up at a Dallas County polling location between June 29 and July 10, or on July 14. Don’t forget to bring the required identification.
