The Dallas College Foundation’s emergency aid funding has helped students stay in school during the pandemic. You have access to these resources, as well!
You will also have access to other emergency support and social services within the Dallas community, as well as a budgeting tool to help you anticipate potential challenges.
Emergency aid for Dallas College students is made available through generous philanthropic donations to the Dallas College Foundation and through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act recently passed by Congress. We have partnered with an educational technology company, Edquity, to help make the application and award process quick and easy for you.
We’ve answered some of your questions already, but let’s take a deep dive into a few others.
Who Can Apply?
We’re glad you asked! There are some requirements that you should know about.
- All enrolled students are eligible to apply.
- You can apply once per semester.
- You must have a valid student ID.
- You can apply regardless of your citizenship status in the U.S.
How Do I Sign up?
You can find the Edquity app in the App store, Google Play or apply for emergency aid online. Simply download the app or head on over to the website and follow the instructions on how to get started. The application shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes to fill out. You don’t have to worry about writing answers or finding references. The only thing you need is your student ID.
How Long Will It Take To Get My Funds?
Emergency aid funds can support you when or if you experience a financial emergency that could prevent you from completing college. Edquity and Dallas College work together as quickly as possible to distribute funds as they are approved. Wait times vary and depend on the number of applications received. If you have not heard about your application within two weeks of submitting, please contact CARES@dcccd.edu.
How Do I Claim My Emergency Aid?
Edquity provides options for every student. Even if you don’t have a bank account, you can still claim your emergency aid. Once you’ve completed the process, you can claim your aid.
Do I Have To Pay Back My Aid?
No, emergency aid does not require repayment and will not interfere with your current financial aid. If your situation changes, feel free to donate your fund to support other students.
What Are Some Other Resources Available?
Additional resources are available in the Edquity app.
These resources will help you:
- Find resources near you. Find local organizations that are ready to help with everything from food to housing.
- Free food. Find and attend events happening near you that have free food.
- Manage your personal finances. You can give back and donate to the emergency fund so that other students will have the same opportunity.
Don’t forget, if you’ve got more questions, we’ve got answers!
