Resources Available for Tornado Victims in Dallas

If you or someone you know was affected by the tornado that came through our city last Sunday, there are resources available to you that we want you to know about. Organizations from all over the Dallas-Fort Worth area are lending a hand and helping those that were caught in the storm’s path.

North Texas Food Bank

There are food pantries available for affected residents. You can search for the nearest food pantry on the North Texas Food Bank website. You can also get updates on social media through Twitter and Facebook.

DCCCD Food Pantry

Brookhaven College, Cedar Valley College, Eastfield College, El Centro CollegeMountain View College, North Lake College and Richland College offer food pantries on their campuses to assist those in need.

YMCA

The YMCA located at 4332 Northhaven Road in Dallas has open doors to those affected by the storm. The facility is offering the use of its showers and locker rooms — including towels and shampoo. You can come and charge your electronic device and enjoy coffee, the pool, gym equipment and fitness classes free of charge.

Alamo Drafthouse

Alamo Drafthouse is offering free PG-rated movies at the Las Colinas, Lake Highlands and Richardson locations. You can also come and charge your electronic devices at any of these locations.

U-Haul

U-Haul companies are offering 30 days free of storage and use of mobile storage units. Please contact the nearest North Texas U-Haul facility for more information.

The city of Dallas has set up a resource website with everything you need to know and who to contact for your situation.

Donate Money for Tornado Relief Efforts

City of Dallas Emergency Assistance Fund: City of Dallas will facilitate donations through the Dallas Emergency Assistance Fund. This fund helps local organizations respond to broad-based community emergencies that affect the city of Dallas.

Volunteer for help with removal of debris: To volunteer or to request volunteers to help with removing debris, please call 833-556-2476.

Help Dallas Independent School District: Dallas ISD is seeking volunteers to help students and teachers whose schools were destroyed by the tornadoes. Please contact 972-925-5440 or email volunteer@dallasisd.org. For information about donating to the schools and Dallas ISD families affected by the storm.

North Texas Red Cross: Is always looking for volunteers and donations. If you are interested in donating or volunteering check out their website.

North Texas Crisis Cleanup: Is helping business and homeowners remove debris. To support the organization or request help, or call 833-556-2476.
