Texas needs teachers. Everyone does, really — for teachers at all levels (kindergarten/elementary school, middle school, high school and special education), employment is projected to grow six percent nationally from 2014 to 2024.
Can You Get an Online Teaching Degree?
Yes! You can get a 100 percent online teaching degree through the colleges of DCCCD. Our online associate degrees in teaching consist of lower-division courses intended to transfer toward bachelor’s degrees in teaching. Through these programs, you can start your academic career at a fraction of the cost of doing all four years at a university, while still working toward earning your initial Texas teacher certification.
Online Associate Degrees in Teaching
For online teaching degrees from DCCCD, you have several options:
- Associate of Arts in Teaching Degree, grades 4 through 8 (generalist), early childhood through grade 12 for special education
- Associate of Arts in Teaching Degree, early childhood through grade 6
- Associate of Arts in Teaching, leading to initial Texas teacher certification in a foreign language, early childhood through grade 12
- Associate of Arts in Teaching, leading to initial Texas teacher certification in mathematics, grades 8 through 12
