From the Dallas Morning News and the Houston Chronicle:
Some Harvey evacuees have come to Dallas-Fort Worth to avoid the damage and danger of the storms. Here’s how North Texans can help.
Volunteer to Help Evacuees
The City of Dallas may need volunteers to help evacuees at designated recreation centers. Register online to become a volunteer. If you’re already in Houston, you might also consider volunteering with All Hands Volunteers.
Provide Supplies for City Recreation Centers
Drop off supplies at a donation center at 15660 North Dallas Parkway (north of Arapaho Road), Dallas, from 3-8 p.m. through Sept. 1. The center is operated by the local nonprofit group Trusted World, which is working with the city and several disaster relief agencies.
Items needed: diapers, baby wipes, toiletries, feminine hygiene products and nonperishable food including baby formula. The only clothing items that are needed at this time are packs of underwear and socks.
Check the Trusted World Facebook page and the city’s 211 phone line for the latest information.

Donate Blood for Hurricane Relief Efforts

Donations of all blood types are needed, especially O types, she said.
North Texas donors can text DONATE4LIFE to 444-999 and a Carter BloodCare employee can tell you times and places to donate or call 1-877-571-1000.
Help With Displaced Animals/Pets
Hundreds of animals are being displaced because of Hurricane Harvey and are heading to North Texas.
SPCA of Texas is asking for donations of cat litter, litter boxes, towels, blankets, treats, toys and newspaper. Donations can be taken to these locations: 2400 Lone Star Drive in Dallas and 8411 Stacy Road in McKinney. Financial donations are also accepted online.
Provide Shelter for Evacuees
Volunteer your rental home or room through rental site Airbnb.com, which is connecting evacuees in the path of the storm with free, short-term lodging. Airbnb hosts in designated areas are able to volunteer their rentals through a sign-up program. That’s also where evacuees can request lodging.
The program has been activated in several cities, including Dallas, San Antonio and Austin. It will run through Sept. 1.
